RAYS Wellness: a pharmacy website as calm as its stores.

RAYS Wellness is an Australian specialty pharmacy with stores in Brisbane and South Melbourne. We designed and built its Webflow site in 2023, then added a second store, routed e-script uploads to the right one, and built its new home page.

A pharmacy that didn’t want to feel like one.

RAYS set out to be more than a pharmacy: warm, considered stores in arched timber and soft light, built around whole-person wellbeing. The website had to feel the same, and it had to be ready before the first store opened its doors.

It also had real work to do. Patients arrive with a prescription from their healthcare provider, so the site had to take those scripts securely and get them to the team, and it had to work alongside a separate patient app that was being built at the same time.

By the numbers.

  • 2stores, Brisbane and South Melbourne, on one site
  • 1upload form that sends each script to the right store
  • 2023launched, ahead of the first store opening

What we did for RAYS Wellness.

October to December 2023

The first site

Working from RAYS’s brand and content, we designed and built the site in Webflow and took the team through it with comments on the staging site. It went live in December 2023, before the Brisbane store had opened.

  • Home, About, New Patients, FAQs and Contact pages
  • An e-script upload form for patients’ prescriptions
  • Links to the patient app, on its own subdomain
  • A newsletter sign-up, and privacy and terms pages
  • Set up for the team to edit their own copy

September to November 2024

A second store

When RAYS opened in South Melbourne, every script still came through one form. We connected the form to RAYS’s own patient records, so each upload now goes straight to the right store.

  • Melbourne alongside Brisbane across the site
  • Uploads checked against the patient’s details and postcode
  • Each script sent to its store’s own inbox

October to November 2024

A new home page

RAYS asked the Brisbane studio Morning to redesign the home page, and we built it in Webflow from Morning’s Figma design.

  • A full-screen video hero with the RAYS wordmark
  • The mission, the story and the mind, body and soul band
  • Both stores, each with its address, hours and contacts
  • App links, the e-script upload and an Instagram feed

As calm online as in store.

The RAYS stores are quiet places: arched timber shelving, warm light, plants and soft stone. The site picks up the same palette of sand, terracotta and near-black, with an elegant serif and plenty of room around every line, so it reads as a place to slow down rather than a shop.

Photography of the stores does much of the work. The Locations section shows the Fortitude Valley shopfront at dusk, and the About section a store’s arched counter, so patients know what to expect before they visit.

The front door to the patient app.

RAYS’s patient app was built by a separate developer at the same time as the site, and patients can’t sign up in the app itself. So the website does that job: the e-script upload and contact forms are how new patients reach the team, and the app is one tap away for everyone who already has an account.

We worked alongside the app’s developer on the launch, from the subdomain the app lives on to the domain settings both needed, and the app’s look borrowed from the site’s style guide, so moving between the two feels seamless.

Every script to the right store.

With one store, every upload could go to one inbox. With two, a Melbourne patient’s script landing in Brisbane would cost everyone time. Rather than ask patients to pick a store, we connected the upload form to RAYS’s own system.

When a patient sends a script, the form checks their details and postcode against RAYS’s records, then sends the upload to the right store’s inbox automatically. It went live in November 2024, as the Melbourne store found its feet.

Another studio’s design, built with care.

For the new home page, RAYS brought in Morning, a Brisbane design studio, and asked us to build it. We worked from Morning’s Figma file, matching its type, spacing and imagery closely, and had it ready to publish within two weeks of the design being signed off.

The hero is a full-screen video of the store. We sized it to the video’s own shape, so the footage and the RAYS wordmark stay in view on any screen, and compressed the file to a fraction of its original size so it starts quickly.

Theirs to run.

RAYS’s team edit their own copy in Webflow’s editor. The pages are built from a small set of styles, so a change in one place carries through the site, and new copy drops in without breaking the layout.

When something does need a developer, we’ve been on hand, from the Melbourne launch to updated terms.
